PixieBar 3 Month Giveaway!

PixieBar is a monthly subscription that sends you all the non-perishable items needed for a meal for 4. They graciously provided me a box to try out and I was thrilled that it was pad thai. I seriously love pad thai, but have never made it. The monthly subscription fee is $20 - or a little less if you sign up for 3, 6, or 12 months. They also have a great option to just buy one month, no subscription needed, for $24.
Everything came in this petite box.
Inside the box everything was neatly presently. I love the packing material. Not the typical crinkly paper that I now have all over my house. And everything was tightly packed in with no leaking or spilling of anything.
The Goods:
Tamarind Paste/Fish Sauce
Palm Sugar
Chili Flakes
Noodles
Recipe Card

I was very impressed with the quality of the recipe card. It's on heavy cardstock and you'll definitely want to hold onto this one.

I also kept the little jar after using the chili flakes. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but it's super cute and reusable.
Getting to work in the kitchen. The recipe calls for 1 chicken breast - but they clearly don't know the likes of my husband. I used 3 chicken breasts and it seemed like there were plenty of noodles for it.
The Finished Product
I didn't have all the ingredients on the recipe card but I found ways to make it work. Overall, I'm impressed with PixieBar. I like the whole concept of sending you the non-perishables and you come up with the rest. I buy the larger protein items in the store all the time, but when I get them home I'm at a loss as to how to do something new and interesting with them.

You can also take a look at Mommy Combat Team's pad thai experience.

PixieBar has teamed up with the United Box Bloggers to offer one lucky winner a 3 month subscription! So once again you have to follow all of us, but we've got so many great giveaways going on (and lots more to come) that it's totally worth it!

Sproutkin

Following the end of my favorite book club for the little man i've been on the search for a new club. I had heard of Sproutkin previously, so I figured it was time to give them a try. Before I signed up I contacted Sproutkin about a question I was unable to find on their faqs page. I received a very prompt reply and it convinced me it was time. Their subscription for infants and toddlers is $24.99 per month and you receive 2 to 4 board books and sometimes a toy. They also have a preschool program that sends you 10 books a month which you return when you are done. A mail library program.
The box arrived very quickly after subscribing.
First look wasn't too impressive. Messy.
A letter welcoming me to Sproutkin.
The theme this month is music.
The stack of books nicely presented.
This little owl was included to dance to the beat of the books.

Using Amazon to determine the values I come up with $24.35. Slightly below what I paid for it and I'm really surprised the owl is $12. It's a finger puppet! These sing-song books are also not the kind of books we would read at bedtime, and that is primarily when we read. I'm not blown away with my first box from Sproutkin. I'm looking forward to next month and hoping they wow me a little more.

Citrus Lane for Baby Boy plus Coupon

Citrus Lane is a babies/kids box that ranges from $21 to $25 depending on how long you sign up for. I aged my kid a couple months hoping to get some items that were more useful to us. So this box is for a 9 month old boy.

The Box

The Goods
charley harper
$7.96
This is a cute board book. Not really a story book for bedtime but a daytime book to read and let the little man explore.
$8.50
I love Skip Hop, but this toy seems a little young for my man. The age guidelines say for ages 0+. B seems more interested in observing his surroundings than playing with anything we attach to his stroller.
episencial
I love Episencial and this will definitely be used in our house.... after the ten other bottles of body wash that we have.
soothing cream
$11
We are totally lucky in that Little Man has no skin issues. We haven't even had a bit of diaper rash. None the less, I'm sure we can use this.
julep
Coco Polish from Julep
$11.20 - $14
This one is hard to assign a value, because when you sign up for Julep you get free polish. Not this color, though. If you are a Maven (member) you can get it for $11.20. If not, it's $14. Regardless, it's brown and I am not a fan.
burpy
Occasionally, Citrus Lane offers "add-on" items. They send out a link to some optional items you can pay for. It was all Aden & Anais stuff this time. Some of the prices are pretty good, sometimes you can find comparable prices at Amazon. I absolutely love Burpy Bibs and these were cheaper than Amazon currently has. I really hope someday I have a girl just so I can buy all the cute girly prints, too.

So, this wasn't my favorite month for Citrus Lane. The value of the box was $46.18 (not including Burpy Bibs) so that is pretty awesome for the $21 I paid. I've decided to age up Little Man even more to at least a year old. Hopefully, that'll help. Here's also hoping they don't offer Aden & Anais add-ons again because I freakin love the stuff and can't stop myself from buying more.

Use code HALFOFF to do just that.

Juniper

It's the "That Time Of The Month" box.  For $28 a month you get all your necessities (tampons, pads, pain relief) plus all those other essentials like sweets. I was beyond excited for this months box because the theme was Chocolate. Seriously, I would enjoy a chocolate box every month.
juniper
Great presentation as usual along with Lynn's letter and the info on all the goods.

 The Goods
The white box holds the tampons and the gold bag has an assortment of pads plus Midol.
honey
 Nature's Kick Honey Sticks
Chocolate, caramel, and wildflower. Guess which one was my favorite?
 Sasso Bar
I had never heard of this but it was fabulous. Where do I find more?
chocolate
 Bart's Extreme Chocolate Chip Cookies
At first I didn't get it. The first nibble was okay. But then I got to the soft center and realized just how wonderful these little bites are.
tea
 Mighty Leaf Tea
Alright, to be honest I haven't drank a single tea from any of my Juniper boxes. They look yummy.... I just never think of it.
toffee
 Toffee Talk
Delicious.
8 Flavors of Tree Chocolate Leaves
8? ... you might be thinking? But I only see 7? That's because one didn't last long enough to make it into the photo. The other 7 were quickly consumed after their picture. These just might make my favorites list for September. They are definitely a contender.

B/S/T Box Exchange

So, there's this Facebook page I belong to called Box Love Exchange B/S/T. It's a place for all us subscription box addicts to buy, sell, or trade the stuff we get. A few months ago they organized the first actual box exchange where people were given matches to send boxes to. I skipped the first go round and when I saw what people were getting I was bummed that I did that. So this time around I was all in.  I received my box from sweet Brandi in West Virginia. I super love that state. Beautiful.
How awesome is this box?
I seriously was dying to wrip into it.... but I controlled myself just long enough to get the pics.

Uh-oh, she's a bluum fan. Better check your credit card statement....
Everything was individually wrapped. The doggie gifts were wrapped in that paw print tissue paper. Super cute.
The lovely info sheet.
The goods. Wowsa, that's a lot of stuff.
I always thought my kid didn't enjoy wood toys. Turns out we just had the wrong ones. My kid loves the wheels on this one. This one was hand-made in West Virginia which satisfied the one requirement of sending an item from your state.
How cute is this little family? More wooden toys that my kid actually likes. They are perfect sized for his little hands and he enjoys chewing on the mommy's head (not sure what to think about that). On top of everything they are made in Portland. Shout out to my Oregon!
Oh, Sneakz. You found your way into a lot of sub boxes lately and no one likes you. You're the foster kid that gets passed around. For some reason, I still drink you even though you make me gag a little.
Boogie Wipes
Excellent for the diaper bag.
My Crown
Because I am a princess. Actually, Brandi's info sheet says this crown entitles me to no diaper changing, washing dishes, laundry or cooking. Now if I can just get my husband to play along.
Pomegranite White Tea
White tea is my favorite. It's the sweetest of the tea leaves.
Vampire Perfume
This is in homage to my love of vamp fiction. I cracked up when I saw it.
Beech Nut Fruities
We are fans of Beech Nut in this house.
Philosophy Goodies
Love Philosophy stuff.
BBW Hand Sanitizer
I am a Bath and Body Works freak. Seriously, I have a ton. Never enough hand sanitizer, though. Especially with the little one. These are daisy and strawberry scented which are two of my faves.
Clinique 7 Day Scrub
Big fan of Clinique.
Ella's Kitchen Puffits
The kid is just starting to get into puffs. He's not sold on them yet, but he occasionally puts one in his mouth. A few more weeks and I think he'll be on board.
Homemade Fruit Jerky
This stuff is made in NY and it's one of Brandi's faves. I'm super happy she shared some with me.
Popcorn!
How can you go wrong with popcorn? There was also a coupon for a free Redbox movie. Date night!
Bic Razors
Brandi sent these because she loves trying out new razors. Same here. I don't know why, but i'm always fascinated with all the different options.

I am so glad I participated in this go round. Brandi did a fantastic job and I had fun shopping for my partner, a young college gal. I can't wait for the next one!
